United Methodists were well represented at this year's Living Faith Awards sponsored by The Spirituality Network of Columbus, Ohio. The 25th year for this celebration of 'individuals who create a more hopeful, peaceful, and faithful world.' Murray Vital Church Awards are presented by the West Ohio chapter of the United Methodist Rural Advocates (UMRA) to rural and smaller member churches that display passionate worship, radical hospitality, risk-taking service and mission, extravagant generosity, and faith-forming relationships. June 13, 2016 Beloved in Christ Jesus: Like all of you I awakened on Sunday morning June 12 to the tragic, devastating, jaw-dropping reports of yet another mass shooting. This time the worst one in recent American history. But this is not a competition or race that  is worth winning. It is however a deeply sobering reminder of our lack of capacity to reign in violence and hatred. The layers of complexity of this particular shooting are still being peeled back.... (read more)
