When the 55 year old organization, Autism Connections decided to close its doors in June 2026 due to funding cuts, it left a big hole in the autism community in Cincinnati. Autism Connections provided support groups, education, and support for youth, adults, and families living with autism.

With this resource going away, the Shiloh and Epiphany United Methodist Churches decided to step into the gap and reach out to this community. In partnership with some professional facilitators left unemployed when Autism Connections closed, these churches are now providing those support groups for the Cincinnati community.

Meeting twice a month, one on each side of town, there is a group for adults (18+) and families (whose children of any age are dealing with autism or autism-like issues). Cherry Mayo, who is the lead facilitator reflects, “Once you graduate from high school, any and all support for people living with autism just dries up, we can provide that needed support and guidance for those who are now adults and their families.”
