Village Walk & Symposium

As Hamilton County prepares to consider children's levies on the November 2026 ballot, community leaders, faith communities, service organizations, and residents are invited to participate in the Village Walk and Symposium, a unique effort to raise awareness, encourage civic engagement, and deepen understanding of issues affecting children and families throughout our region.

Beginning October 19 and continuing through October 24, VillageWalk will bring participants across Hamilton, Warren, and Butler County on a five-day, 38-mile civic pilgrimage that culminates in a community symposium and the launch of GV513. Unlike a fundraiser or awareness walk with a designated cause and finish line, VillageWalk is designed as an exercise in listening, learning, and relationship-building. Walkers will travel through diverse neighborhoods and communities, engaging with people whose experiences often go unseen or unheard. See attached document for route details.

Along the journey, walkers will encounter faith communities, schools, organizations serving children and families, shelters, social-service agencies, and neighborhood leaders. The goal is not simply to observe these places, but to listen deeply and better understand the challenges and opportunities facing children today.

VillageWalk is organized by GV513 (Global Village 513), the Cincinnati affiliate of The Dayton Equity Center. Rooted at New Vision United Methodist Church, GV513 exists to bring together people, institutions, congregations, and neighborhoods around a shared commitment to belonging, opportunity, and dignity for all. As a local platform for regional collaboration, GV513 seeks to foster meaningful partnerships that strengthen communities and improve outcomes for children and families.

The walk will culminate on October 24, with a public symposium and community gathering. The event marks not only the conclusion of the five-day pilgrimage, but also the official launch of GV513 as The Equity Center's Cincinnati affiliate. Attendees will explore the future of children and families in Hamilton County and consider how communities can work together to create greater opportunities for the next generation.
