Worship Resources for Sunday, May 3 – Serve Joyfully

Suggested Scripture:

  • Psalm 100 – Serving the Lord with gladness and song
  • 1 Peter 4:8-11 – Serving one another with God‑given gifts
  • Mark 10:42-45 – Jesus models joyful servanthood

Forty-five second script to be shared aloud or printed in the bulletin:

Our mission as United Methodists is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We live into this mission every day when we Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously.

Across Africa, Europe, and the Philippines, pastors are serving in places where hope is fragile and resources are limited. Yet their faith is strong, their commitment deep, and their impact profound.

In two weeks, we will join 30,000 congregations across The United Methodist Church to celebrate Miracle Sunday. The special offering received that day will be used to support a permanent endowment to educate 500 clergy per year.

Through the Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, Lead Courageously Miracle Sunday initiative, we can help ensure that more clergy leaders receive the advanced theological education they need to serve with wisdom and strength.

A video testimony:
This morning, we hear a brief testimony from Caleb, a pastor from Liberia who ministers to people who live in a graveyard, I invite you to hold this prayer in your heart:

Lord, use our gifts, our prayers, and our lives to transform the world like Jesus.
