Last month, members of United Women in Faith from the East and West Ohio Conferences gathered at the Methodist Theological School of Ohio (MTSO) for a spiritual retreat. Director of Faith Formation & Lay Servant Ministries for the Ohio Episcopal Area, Julie Carter, led the day under the theme, “LOL: Live Out Loud”

Carter facilitated activities to unpack “leadership toolkits” of each person. Through hands-on activities, prompt-led journaling, and discussion, attendees uncovered gifts or “tools” they have to live out loud the vision of the United Methodist Church: to Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously. Tools revealed included faith, trust in God, self-confidence, risk-taking, and more. The group also built a “legacy toolkit” for future generations to continue in the mission of United Women in Faith and the vision of The United Methodist Church.

The mission of the United Women in Faith is to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education so that they can inspire, influence, and impact local and global communities.

Those who took part in the Spiritual Retreat left fulfilled, excited, and energized for the future in mission in “Ohio Land”.
