In 2023, UMCM awarded 41 grants for $167,553. By way of grant funding, UMCM encourages congregations across the Olentangy River District to reach out and serve people in our local communities via missional outreach ministries. UMCM and Olentangy River District leadership have stated funding priorities for ministries that create discipleship opportunities, transform communities, and are sustainable. The United Methodist Community Ministries (UMCM) District Mission Center (DMC) grant is awarded to a limited number of multi-faceted ministry programs who exhibit exceptional effectiveness in leadership, volunteerism, and ministry programming with emphasis on an Anchor Ministry and multiple supporting Distinct Ministries all designed to enhance and empower the lives of those served in their community. Committee
United Methodist Community Ministries is part of the ministry of the Olentangy River District in the West Ohio Conference. The UMCM committee is comprised of 12 members, both lay and clergy, from the Olentangy River District. The District Superintendent also serves on the Board with the Director. The UMCM committee evaluates grant applications, meets with churches, and sets grant priorities for supporting local churches within the district.
