The West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church supports a wide variety of mission partners, both local and global, in advancing our common mission to 'make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.' Each month, we will join together in praying for our siblings doing mission and ministry around the world.
May: Disaster Response
Every year, natural disasters seem to come with more frequency and fury, displacing people and causing millions of dollars in damages to businesses and homes. As always, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) responds with care and compassion, thanks to the generosity and support of United Methodists across the connection. From giving out ‘flood buckets’ to sending teams of trained early responders to providing long-term case management assistance, The United Methodist Church has always been present for local communities throughout the recovery process. This month, please pray for:
- Week 1: Survivors of recent disasters in the U.S. that have hit Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Ohio.
- Week 2: Survivors of recent international disasters, including those in Taiwan, China, Tanzania, and Kenya.
- Week 3: Early Response Teams as they respond with compassion to disasters near and far.
- Week 4: Financial and volunteer support for West Ohio and UMCOR’s disaster response ministries.
