Position Description

·      Salaried part-time bookkeeping position in a church environment, approximately 20 hours per month

·      Works under the direction of the Finance Team

·      Reconcile bank statements, pay bills in a timely manner, enter expense and receipts into QuickBooks online, reconcile credit card statements by matching receipts and get necessary approvals, produce financial statements, identify trends and anomalies in expenses, and attend Finance and Administrative Council meetings (every other month).

·      Participate in annual financial audit

·      Prepare annual Fund Balance Report and other reports required by the UMC Conference and District.

·      Other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements

·      High School degree and/or GED

·      Two years of accounting/bookkeeping experience

·      Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel and Word

·      Database management skills and or ability to learn Breeze Church Management System

·      Able to pass a criminal background check and be bonded

·      Cannot be related to any current staff members

·      Able to provide reference checks from similar work experience

·      Able to attend evening meetings (every other month)

·      Excellent attention-to-detail

·      Ability to communicate effectively with staff and church members

Desired Skills

·      2 Year accounting degree

·      Currently working in a similar position at another church
