Learning Center Director
Cheviot United Methodist Church is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director to spearhead the establishment and successful operation of a new infant to preschool learning center.
As the Director, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising a dedicated team of childcare professionals, ensuring the highest standards of care and education for our young children. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and mission for the daycare, aligning with the organization's values and goals.
- Recruit, hire, and train qualified and passionate staff members, including teachers, assistants, and support staff, to create a cohesive team focused on providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children.
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and operational guidelines to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to daycare operations, health, and safety.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum, fostering the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth of children.
- Create a positive and inclusive environment where children feel safe, respected, and supported in their individual growth and development.
- Maintain the physical center environment and all health/safety standard operating procedures are always in full compliance with local and state licensing regulations.
- Foster strong relationships with parents, ensuring open lines of communication and addressing their concerns and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff members, providing ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Manage the daycare's budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial sustainability.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as community organizations and educational institutions, to enhance the daycare's programs and services.
- Obtain grants and other program enhancements to expand programming
- Attend monthly learning center board meetings and all staff meetings as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role within an infant to preschool daycare or early childhood education setting. 5 years preferred.
- Strong knowledge of child development theories, early childhood education practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting, training, and managing a diverse team of childcare professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curricula and programs that support children's holistic development.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial management principles.
- Familiarity with technology tools and software commonly used in daycare management.
- Strong knowledge of state licensing rules and regulations. ODJFS procedures to gain licensure and operate a childcare facility.
