This is the foundation for all other learning and lay leadership courses where you are encouraged to discover and employ personal spiritual gifts as God intended. Participants are invited to consider the importance of exercising servant leadership, developing future leaders, remaining rooted in consistent spiritual practices, and being part of a group that holds members accountable in their discipleship. The course offers guidelines for best practices as a church leader in mission and ministry in the community and in daily life. You will need to order and read your the book “Lay Servant Ministries Participant’s Book” by Sandy Zeigler Jackson and Brian Jackson, ISBN 978-0-88177626-3, available at Cokesbury or Amazon.
This course is recommended for paid and unpaid leaders in the church interested in a lay servant ministry role serving primarily with their local church and congregation. Approval of the participant’s pastor, as well as of the charge conference or church council, is also required for one to become a Lay Servant. Registration is limited to 20 participants. Pre-reading is required.
