For the first time in more than a year, a team of 12 people (eight from Amelia UMC and four from Emmanuel UMC) answered the call to go and be the hands and feet of Christ to the people of Las Brisas del Mar, Colombia.
The team, comprised of eight adults and four minors, was finally able to make the journey this June after their original trip had to be canceled in 2020. The team spent three days working on service projects, removing chipped paint and repainting the back portion of the medical clinic. They also offered an adult Bible study, skits and crafts for youth and children, and spent time getting to know the people of Las Brisas. “I watched with sincere delight as the three 12-year-old members of our team let love lead them to meet and quickly make new friends with the children in the village,” one team member said. “I watched the more experienced missionaries on the team let love lead them to even deeper friendships with the people that they have met and gotten to know in Las Brisas. The people that I met as strangers who spoke a different language on Sunday afternoon were the same people I tearfully left as family in four short days.”
