Walk with a Pastor Programs Aims to Encourage Healthy Habits

Several local churches and pastors from the Foothills District of The West Ohio Conference have joined together to promote healthy habits in their congregations through the new Walk with a Pastor initiative. In partnering with the Walk with a Doc program, churches in Morgan County and the Zanesville area are becoming healthier simply by taking a walk with their pastors. Pastor Elizabeth Reed from Malta United Methodist Church led the first walk on the first Thursday of January in their gym at the church. There were around 10 people there that night. Walks will be held the first Thursday of each month at 5:15 pm; from March through November, the walks will begin at the McConnelsville Boat Ramp. Several pastors from the Zanesville area joined together under the leadership of Pastor Justin Williams from Coburn United Methodist Church. Their first walk was held January 26 at the Colony Square Mall in Zanesville, with 40 people in attendance. The clergy opened with their personal health and faith story, a prayer, and then the walking began. Walks will continue on the last Saturday of the month.
