The Transformative Discipleship Team Report provides an overview of the connectional ministries of The West Ohio Conference, including camps, new church starts, campus ministries, global and local missions, and more. Highlights of the report, given by Team Chair Doug Damron, included the following:
- Camping Ministries: Since 2013, we have seen 111% growth of children and youth being served by our camps. Last year, 148 campers made a first-time commitment to Jesus Christ.
- Diversity & Inclusion: West Ohio’s Cultural Coaches have provided training to over 370 West Ohio laity and clergy. The goal, by 2020, is to engage and equip 25% (over 260) of local churches in this work.
- Local Church Revitalization: The Connection Blueprint has engaged multiple churches in an asset-based, community approach to ministries of justice and peace.
- All In Community: Over 1,000 West Ohio Lay and Clergy are actively engaged with men and women who are incarcerated.
These are just a few of the many ways in which West Ohio churches and ministries are working to change lives, strengthen families, welcome the stranger, and explore faith in a safe and welcoming space.
Damron concluded, “This fruit, Kingdom fruit, is possible because committed disciples like you and the disciples you share life and mission with in your local church were willing to answer God’s invitation to change the world.”
