While in Columbus for the UMW Assembly, the United Methodist Women will host a Living Wage Rally on Thursday, May 17, at the Ohio State Capitol building downtown. The rally is in support of Ohio House Bill #576, which proposes to raise the minimum wage in Ohio to $15 by 2025. Currently, 70 percent of new jobs in Ohio pay wages that leave families below the poverty line. An Ohio family of three with one parent working full-time at minimum wage leaves them $3,500 below the poverty level. The rally will be held from 4:00-5:00 pm on May 17 at the Statehouse.
