First FCI Cohort Gathered

Fear+Less Congregations Initiative

To support congregations in SEEing the gifts of individuals and the shifting values in their communities, HEARing God’s vision for wholeness, and amplifying CHANGE through partnership and hope.

The process of the Fear+Less Congregations Initiative(FCI) involves intentional internal work that benefits each of us. Going deep into fear and asking and answering hard questions. How does fear of the unknown and fear of strangers hold our church back?

When you step into the rhythm of FCI with the see, hear, and change mindset, everyone grows. As we begin to see ourselves differently, we also see others differently. We learn how to listen and talk to each other from a place of empathy with a greater understanding of what it means to be in the other person’s shoes.

One participant came to the first session of her cohort and said, “The people sitting in the pews in my church don’t even know how to talk to each other.” The FCI is a great gift in this time of division and isolation.

Funded by the Lilly Foundation and partnering with Dr. Greg Ellison and his team, this experience is stellar. Many of the congregations who have already participated have seen greater diversity in their relationships, both within the church and outside the walls.

If your congregations is ready for a transformation, contact Julie Carter at jcarter [at] to participate in the next cohort.
