Eleven representatives from West Ohio's All In Community initiative joined more than 350 judges, prisoners, educators, preachers and criminal justice professionals from 20 states in Nashville for the National Prison Summit. The focus for this year's Summit was dismantling mass incarceration. Over three days, Summit workshops, field trips, and large group gatherings focused on subjects ranging from solitary confinement to toxic stress's impact on brain development; from police profiling software's contribution to mass incarceration to family reunification; and from criminal justice reform to reducing risk for criminal justice involvement through education and advocacy. West Ohio's team is excited to share what they learned in ministry and will be initiating a conversation with the Summit organizers to bring the National Prison Summit to Ohio in 2020.
