Multiply West Ohio
Wednesday, March 11, 2020 - 9:30am to 3:30pm

Two thousand years ago, Jesus approached a handful of people and said, “Follow me.” That encounter started a disciple-making multiplication movement that has spanned the past 2000 years. What started with a “YES” has resulted in millions of lives being changed, including yours. How can your church continue this multiplication movement of bringing the hope and healing to the world?

On March 11 at New City Church in Dayton, a number of West Ohio’s innovative leaders will use the TedTalk style format to introduce you to the variety of diverse and creative new methods being used around the conference to multiply disciples. How can the church more effectively join with what God is doing in every town, village, and city, with all kinds of people? As you find yourself in one of the stories, you will have an opportunity to explore how your church might utilize one of these options. You’ll not only hear about the newest work in West Ohio, Rev. Christian Coon from Urban Village UMC in Chicago and Dr. Jan Davis from Central UMC in Fayetteville, AR will share how multiplication has impacted their church/community over the past ten years.

If you’re part of an established church and needing a spark, this event is for you. A healthy church is the hope of the world.  A multiplication movement can “turn the world upside down.” Acts 17.6

Christian co-founded Urban Village ten years ago. He’s a native Iowan who worked in the not-for-profit public relations and journalism fields before going into vocational ministry. He released a book in 2017 titled “Failing Boldly,” and also has a podcast by the same name. He has a BA from Simpson College, an MSJ from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, and an MDiv from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Rev. Dr. Jan Davis
Central UMC
| Fayetteville, Arkansas
Central UMC was named one of the “fastest growing UMC’s” in America in 2017, the fastest growing led by a female pastor, and one of the largest UMCs led by a female pastor. Dr. Davis is an ordained Elder in the Arkansas Annual Conference. She has served in ministry for over 25 years, mostly in the North Texas Conference. She has been in leadership in a variety of settings; a small rural congregation, a large 4500 member church, and all sizes in between. Central UMC in downtown Fayetteville is 187 years old and has seen revitalization and an identity shift in large part due to the two satellite campuses which reach into diverse areas of the city. In Texas, Dr. Davis started three satellite campuses – a Spanish speaking congregation, a mission church for refugees relocating in Dallas, and a new campus in a growing suburban area. Dr. Davis received her MDiv and DMin from Perkins School of Theology, SMU. She has also served as chair of the Board of Ordained Ministry.
