Local Pastors may perform proclamation of the Word, lead worship and liturgy, administer the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, as well as the services of marriage, burial, confirmation, and membership reception within and while appointed to a particular charge or extension ministry. (The UM Book of Discipline, par. 316)

Local Pastors' Licensing School for Summer 2023 will be offered In-Person but we will observe the social distancing needs imposed by COVID-19.  We will host the Licensing School for this session all in-person. The reading and writing assignments will be provided after registration. 

Participants are required to fully participate in the entire school to receive the recommendation for a license. This includes Seminary students and those with Seminary Degrees. We are asking for all to share equally in the work of equipping and developing leaders for local churches.

You are eligible to register and attend Licensing School if you meet the following pre-requisites:

Certified Candidate for Ministry (If not yet certified, contact your District Superintendent.)
Your District Superintendent agrees that you should attend this school.
The chair of your District committee should be aware that you are attending.  (If not, please communicate with him/her first.)

Event Fees

Cost: Current Seminarians, $500.00. All Others including Out of Conference $750.00
