Licensing School starts Sunday, May 29, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm AND May 30 -June 3, 8:00 am - 6:30 pm daily. 

Local Pastors may perform proclamation of the Word, lead worship and liturgy, administer the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, as well as the services of marriage, burial, confirmation, and membership reception within and while appointed to a particular charge or extension ministry. (The UM Book of Discipline, par. 316)

Local Pastors' Licensing School for Summer 2022 will be offered ONLINE ONLY due to the social distancing needs imposed by COVID-19.  We will host the Licensing School for this session entirely online. The reading and writing assignments will be provided after registration. 

Participants are required to fully participate in the entire school to receive the recommendation for a license. This includes Seminary students and those with Seminary Degrees. We are asking for all to share equally in the work of equipping and developing leaders for local churches.

You are eligible to register and attend Licensing School if you meet the following pre-requisites:

Certified Candidate for Ministry (If not yet certified, contact your District Superintendent.)
Your District Superintendent agrees that you should attend this school.
The chair of your District committee should be aware that you are attending.  (If not, please communicate with him/her first.)

Event Fees

Cost: $500.00 for students inside and outside of the East Ohio and West Ohio Conferences. 

Seminary Student Rate: $300.00, must participate in the entire Licensing School.  We previously published this rate and will keep it for Seminary students and graduates only so that we do not cause any unexpected hardship by increasing the amount due at this time.

Homework Deadline: Assignments will be due with each Module in the Online Licensing School as instructed. 
Payment Deadline: May 15.

The next Licensing School will take place October 16-21, 2022 in person at the West Ohio Conference Center, 32 Wesley Blvd., Worthington, OH. 

The rates will change to accommodate an in-person event.
