Developing a Discipleship Pathway to Strengthen Your Church

October 25 | 10 - 12 EST | Matt Lake

In this Mini, United Methodist Pastor Matt Lake offers an overview of why an effective discipleship pathway is critical for long-term sustainability. Participants will learn how your church can create it's own customized process, leading to a culture of discipleship. While many churches succeed in raising up volunteers in their local settings, some congregations struggle with raising up disciples. We will explore a congregational approach that leads to discipleship. At the conclusion of this Mini, participants will have the option to opt-in for more training.

About Matt:

Matt Lake serves as the Lead Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport, PA—an urban congregation that consists of a mix of traditional and contemporary worship experiences.  First Church has also grown to include a network of fresh expressions of ministry called the Acts Network in which people meet in places such as homes, gyms, and coffee shops.  Matt has his B.A. in Biblical Studies from Messiah University, his M.Div. from Duke Divinity School, and his D.Min. in Semiotics and Future Studies from Portland Seminary.  Matt's doctoral work included a focus on how to create a culture of discipleship that entire congregations could align around. Matt has worked with a variety of churches in a consultant role and has a passion to see God’s Kingdom lived out through lives transformed in the love and discipleship of Jesus Christ.  Matt adores his beautiful wife Jennifer, and is doing his best to keep up with his three energetic, amazing children—Alexandra, Joshua, and Zach.
