What to Expect During Annual Conference

Weather: The weather at Lakeside is usually quite warm in June and Hoover Auditorium, where the session is held, is NOT air-conditioned. You will find a majority of members dressed casually in shorts and others who wear business attire. To view current weather conditions at Lakeside click here.


Complimentary Golf Cart Shuttle Service:Lakeside Chautauqua provides free shuttle service to all members or guests. They offer open-air golf cart shuttles and a handicap accessible bus to transport guests. All shuttles are marked for ease of identification. Shuttles run from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm every day during conference. The shuttles run a specified route through out Lakeside to include stops at the South Gate, both hotels, Hoover Auditorium and the main park. There is no need to call for a shuttle, simply go to one of the marked stops to catch a shuttle as it makes its rounds (every 15 minutes).


Limited Mobility Shuttle Service: The Mack Mobile provides door-to-door service for guests and residents who have limited-mobility issues. The Mack Mobile golf cart is available by phone which will be published at a later date. The Mack Mobile operates from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm every day during conference.


Conference Chancellor Consultations: The West Ohio Conference Chancellor  will be available for free consultations with pastors of local churches needing legal advice and guidance. Consultations will take place on Tuesday from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm in the Lakeside Chautauqua office at 236 Walnut Avenue.


Cokesbury Book Store: The Cokesbury Book Store will be located in the Aigler Room of the Fountain Inn and will be open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during annual conference. 


Where to Eat: Lakeside offers several casual dining options during conference for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can dine and enjoy the view at the Hotel Lakeside Dining Room & Cafe or try award-winning pizza at Sloopy's Sports Cafe. For those on the go visit the Food Court just across the street from Hoover Auditorium for a quick-lunch provided by local vendors. For more information about Lakeside dining options click here.


Fitness & Fun: Lakeside offers 2 basketball courts; tennis courts; beach volleyball area; horseshoes; 18-hole miniature golf course; life trail wellness park with 10 exercise stations; 2-mile nature trail; 4 playgrounds for kids; splash park & kids pool; beach & swim area; fishing; a movie theater; and of course shuffleboard. New this year is the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus located at the south end of Lakeside.


Need Cash? There is an ATM machine located just off the lobby in the Fountain Inn near the main entrance.


Tobacco-Free Community: For the health and wellness of our guests and residents, Lakeside Chautauqua is a tobacco-free community. Smoking and the use of other tobacco products are prohibited on the grounds, with the exception of privately-owned properties. All cottage rentals are smoke-free. 


Alcohol Policy: For the safety of our guests and residents, Lakeside Chautauqua is an alcohol-free community. The consumption of alcoholic beverages outside the private dwellings of lessees/privately-owned cottages is prohibited.
