ANNUAL CONFERENCE SPECIAL OFFERING
Every year at the annual conference session, a Miracle Offering
is collected from our local churches for a special mission
project. Examples of previous Love Offerings have included
Nothing but Nets, Mission Partners in Southeast Asia, Global
Aids Fund, Church Builders Club, and Wings of the Morning.
The dollar amount listed is only for those Miracle Offering
funds given through the Council on Development and not
reflective of the total offering.
BLACK COLLEGE FUND
The United Methodist Church supports the largest number
of Black colleges and universities of any church body in the
United States. The eleven Black colleges and universities of
The United Methodist Church, far out of proportion to their
numbers and financial resources, are responsible for educating
some of the world’s most effective and popular leaders.
CAMP & RETREAT MINISTRIES
West Ohio United Methodist Camps and Retreats, through
creative outdoor programs at three outstanding Ohio
locations, seeks to proclaim the Love of God in Jesus Christ
and encourage a call to Christian living in our youth. The
experience of Christian community is a goal of all camp
activities including interpersonal relationships, worship, study,
and recreation.
CHURCH BUILDERS CLUB
The Church Builders Club is an exciting ministry within the
West Ohio Conference, designed to involve God’s people in
establishing new churches, helping with the construction
for growing churches, and providing assistance in rebuilding
churches when disaster strikes.
CLERGY LEADERSHIP FORMATION
The formation of clergy leadership is vital for the future of the
church. Supported by this funding are initiatives to help young
people discern a call to ordained ministry as an intern; Crucible,
a two year training experience for clergy to supplement
seminary, the residency program and other continued
professional growth opportunities.
LOCAL CHURCHES
Many individuals desire to give to their local church through
assets such as securities, mutual funds, IRAs and pension
programs. The Council on Development makes it easy for
donors to transfer assets to the Council to be liquidated,
then immediately distributed back to the local church for the
designated purpose. Because of the Council’s management,
the donor has only a few cents of fees taken out of their
contribution, has no capital gains tax, and receives a charitable
contribution acknowledgement.
