The 44th of the West Ohio Annual Conference has come to a close, and we hope you found your time at Lakeside rewarding, spiritually fulfilling, and inspirational.  We have much to celebrate in West Ohio and much to be thankful for. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 In the early morning on Tuesday, the third day of the 2013 West Ohio Annual Conference Session, over 300 runners and walkers, as well as several supporters and observers, gathered in downtown Lakeside for the 2nd annual 5k run/walk. Monday, June 10, 2013 Monday marked the second day of West Ohio Conference events at Lakeside, but the first official day of the conference session, beginning with worship, and after opening the session, led to teaching, legislation and recognition of accomplishments throughout West Ohio. Sunday, June 9, 2013 Arriving at Lakeside, the streets buzzed with activity as West Ohio Conference members were preparing for the first day of the 44th annual conference session. Teams rehearsed and polished the stage set, microphones, instruments and lighting in broad Hoover Auditorium, whose seats would soon be filled with faces from across the conference.   Beloved in Christ Jesus: On Sunday, some 24 tornadoes tore through five states—Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois—and destroyed 300 homes and claimed lives.  On Monday another tornado touched down in the city of Moore, Oklahoma, destroying two primary schools, a hospital, and an as yet untold number of homes in the town. Conflicting reports set the death toll at 21 or more, many children are among the lives claimed. Rev. Thomas Rand has been appointed the new assistant to the Superintendent of the Maumee Watershed District by Bishop Gregory V. Palmer, effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Rand comes to the Maumee Watershed District from Concord United Methodist Church in Englewood.  Tom studied at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL and has a Ph.D. in New Testament and Worship from Northwestern University.
