Mentor & Host Churches

Apply to be a Clergy Mentor & Host Church for Summer Interns!

It is expected that each mentor and host location meet the following qualifications:

For the Mentor:

  • West Ohio Ordained Clergy Experience developing and supporting young adult leaders
  • Ability to create a safe space for discernment within ministry context
  • Available for weekly meetings with intern
  • Desire and intent to create an experience that will expose the intern to a broad understanding of ordained ministry in the local church setting
  • Available to attend an orientation in late spring and debrief in early fall
  • Willingness to seek opportunities for the intern to explore his/her specific ministry interests

For the Host Church:

  • Actively and effectively demonstrating all Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations
  • 100% of conference and district apportionments paid in 2016
  • Ability to provide a flexible ministry experience reflecting the ministry interests of the intern
  • All church staff and lay leadership should understand the intent of the program and required investment of a supportive congregation
