This year’s Fall Workshop offers two unique opportunities to ALL, paid and volunteer, current or former United Methodist Church office personnel, to learn techniques to share our spiritual gifts as we minister to those we serve.
Discover Your Gifts & Equip Others - Spiritual Gifts in the Bible by Sherri Buehl, Deaconess, Director of Community Development, Epworth Center
1 Corinthians 12:1-31 gives us perspective on our “spiritual gifts” & their place in the church. Discover your own gift and acquire resources that can be used with your church family as well. We will have discussion around the new concept of looking at an individual's gifts in regard to our nominating committees and the success it's shown not only among the work of the church, but in member retention.
Tackle the Tough Issues Surrounding Poverty in our Communities by Rev. Ashley (Barker) Steele, Executive Director of the Urban Mission Ministries, Inc.
Being in ministry isn't always easy - especially if you're the one on the front lines, answering the phone and greeting visitors. You never know what the day will bring. Oftentimes those phone calls and visits are requests for help. It can be difficult to discern the right thing to do. You may even question when does helping actually hurt? Learn how to become a change agent in your own church or organization and how you can be a "bridge" to help individuals and families get out of poverty.
