2013 Next Generations Leadership Interns

West Ohio, meet your 2013 Next Generations Leadership Internship Coordinator and Interns!  This special group of young adult interns will be mentored as they discern their call to ordained ministry this summer.  Prayers for our interns that involve an open heart, willingness to serve, and an intentionality to listen to God's call would be appreciated.

My name is Rocky Riddle.  I attend The Ohio State University and am studying music education.  Activities that I enjoy include making people laugh, playing sports, and leading others in their spiritual journey.  My home church is Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, where I have attended for most of my life.  Last year, I was a Next Generations Leadership intern at Plain City United Methodist Church, where I discerned that my calling was in ordained ministry on the elder track.  This summer I will be helping coordinate the internship program as the interns listed below discern their call to ordained ministry.

My name is Dakota Bullock.  I graduated from Hillsboro High School and will be studying at Wright State University in the fall. I attend Hillsboro First United Methodist Church and will be interning at Marysville First United Methodist Church this summer. I love to run and was on the Track and Cross Country teams at my high school.  This summer I want to grow in my faith and responsibility.  I would also like to increase how I learn and feel about Christ throughout this internship.

My name is Naomi Brown.  I am a senior at Greenville College in Illinois, where I am studying English and Social Work. I enjoy reading, writing, having adventures, and gallivanting through the woods. I grew up as a pastor's kid in the West Ohio Conference, attending Village Chapel United Methodist Church in Ashville for most of my life.  This summer, I will be serving at Church of the Cross in Toledo, Ohio, where I am excited to learn how my passions for ministry can fit into a local church setting.

My name is Lyndsey Stearns.  I am a junior communications major at Otterbein University. I currently attend City Campus Church in Columbus. I enjoy liturgical dance and am part of the Humble Dance Ministry at Otterbein. I will be serving at Trinity United Methodist Church in Defiance, Ohio. I am looking at this internship as an opportunity to grow in my faith and discern if God is calling me to ordained ministry.

My name is Emily Kvalheim.  I am a student at American University in Washington, D.C., where I study Political Science and International Studies. I am a member of Church of the Messiah United Methodist in Westerville, Ohio, and attend church there while home on breaks from school.  I enjoy teaching English as a Second Language and working with the unhoused. For fun, I like to spend time in nature, take pictures, and listen to music. I also love to laugh! This summer, I will intern with Belmont United Methodist Church in Dayton, Ohio, where I hope to become involved in the community and explore my faith as it relates to social justice.
